Get to know Ashley the Human

I was born and raised in Central Iowa and I live in Des Moines with my partner and our four naughty, rambunctious cats.

I enjoy taking long roadtrips through national parks, casual gaming, and listening to audiobooks.

It's not uncommon for me to veg out on the couch watching the latest psychological thriller, and I can often be found making up silly & ridiculous songs that I sing to my less-than-impressed feline companions.

While I practice through evidence-based models of therapy, I also regularly draw on my lived experiences to guide my practice.

I am not just a therapist, I also have been a client
and a person who has deeply struggled with some very tough and overwhelming emotions, personal hardships, and experiences.

To put it simply, I have a PhD from the School of Hard Knocks that was very well earned.

It's through the lessons I learned the hard way

as well as my professional training

that I show up as your therapist - deeply human.
I aim to integrate both my personal and professional knowledge and expertise to
help you find a healthier way of navigating the world.

Thanks to my ADHD superpowers, I’ve dabbled in just about every hobby under the sun. I’ve knitted half a scarf, baked cakes that sometimes defied gravity, tried my hand at photography, joined improv and sketch comedy groups, and thrown myself into community theater, local activism and community organizing.

When I’m not diving into new hobbies, you can find me in a

hyper-focused spiral, strategizing my way to world domination in my favorite game, Civilization 6.

Let’s just say Ghandi and I have some history.

Life’s an adventure, and I’m here for all of it!
